What is an inductor?

An inductor is an element that can store electrical energy into magnetic energy and store it. The structure of the inductor is similar to a transformer, but with only one winding. The inductor has a certain inductance that only blocks the change in current. If the inductor is in a state where no current is flowing, it will attempt to block current flow through it when the circuit is turned on; if the inductor is in a state where current is flowing, it will attempt to maintain the current when the circuit is turned off. Inductors are also known as chokes, reactors, and dynamic reactors.

development path
The most primitive inductor was the iron core coil used by the British M. Faraday in 1831 to discover electromagnetic induction. In 1832, J. Henry of the United States published a paper on the phenomenon of self-induction. People refer to the unit of inductance as Henry, referred to as Henry. In the mid-19th century, inductors were put into practical use in telegraphs, telephones and other devices. In 1887, H.R. Hertz of Germany, in 1890, the inductors used by N. Tesla in the United States were very famous, called Hertz coils and Tesla coils.

Inductance classification
Self-inductor
When a current is passed through the coil, a magnetic field is generated around the coil. When the current in the coil changes, the surrounding magnetic field also changes accordingly. The changed magnetic field can cause the coil itself to generate an induced electromotive force (induced electromotive force) (the electromotive force is used to represent the terminal voltage of the ideal power source of the active component). It is self-consciousness.
An electronic component that is wound by a wire and has a certain number of turns and can generate a certain amount of self-inductance or mutual inductance, which is often called an inductive coil. In order to increase the inductance value, improve the quality factor, and reduce the volume, a core or core made of ferromagnetic material is often added. The basic parameters of the inductor are inductance, quality factor, inherent capacitance, stability, current passed, and frequency of use. An inductor consisting of a single coil is called a self-inductor, and its self-inductance is also called a self-inductance coefficient.
Transformer
When the two inductor coils are close to each other, the change in the magnetic field of one inductor coil will affect the other inductor coil. This effect is mutual inductance. The magnitude of the mutual inductance depends on the degree to which the inductance of the inductor is coupled to the two inductors. The component made by this principle is called a transformer.
